According to statistics from the Guangdong Branch of China Customs, in the first 10 months of 2021, Guangdong’s imports and exports were 6.71 trillion yuan, an increase of 18.2% over the same period last year, accounting for 21.2% of China’s total imports and exports during the same period. Among them, exports were 4.11 trillion yuan, an increase of 18.9%; imports were 2.6 trillion yuan, an increase of 17%.

If foreign trade continues to maintain this growth trend, Guangdong’s total import and export volume in 2021 is expected to remain stable at the 7 trillion yuan mark.

In the first 10 months, Guangdong’s general trade import and export was 3.52 trillion yuan, an increase of 20.4%, and its share in Guangdong’s total import and export value increased by 1 percentage point to 52.4% over the same period last year. Import and export of processing trade was 1.8 trillion yuan, an increase of 14.8%, accounting for 26.8%; bonded logistics was 1.05 trillion yuan, an increase of 18.1%, accounting for 15.6%. In addition, market procurement exports were 299.74 billion yuan, an increase of 20.3%.

Private enterprises accounted for more than 50% of Guangdong’s total import and export value. In the first 10 months, the import and export of private enterprises in Guangdong increased by 21.6%, and their share in Guangdong’s total import and export value increased by 1.7% same period last year to 56.8%.

From the perspective of trading partners, in the first 10 months, Guangdong’s import and export to ASEAN was 999.88 billion Yuan, an increase of 15.6%, accounting for 14.9% of Guangdong’s total import and export value, making it Guangdong’s largest trading partner. In the same period, imports and exports to Hong Kong, the United States, the European Union and Taiwan, respectively, were 915.14 billion yuan, 797.48 billion yuan, 745.28 billion yuan and 520.25 billion yuan, an increase of 17.3%, 17.2%, 21.5% and 17.4%.

Another feature is the rapid growth in imports of important production raw materials and livelihood products. In the first 10 months, Guangdong imported 1.74 trillion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 12.8%, of which integrated circuits were 878.83 billion yuan, an increase of 20.6%, accounting for 33.8% of Guangdong’s total imports.

On October 15-19, Guangzhou held the 130th Canton Fair. Many local enterprises in Guangdong exhibited high-quality export products, which also drove the growth of overseas orders.

From the perspective of product categories, the export growth rate of mechanical and electrical products is faster than the overall growth rate. In the first 10 months, Guangdong exported 2.82 trillion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 19.9%. Among them, exports of household appliances were 273.88 billion yuan, an increase of 18%, automatic data processing equipment and their parts and components were 263.24 billion yuan, an increase of 17.9%, and electrical equipment was 2499.7 billion yuan, an increase of 22.4%.

In addition, export containers were 26.17 billion yuan, an increase of 3.2 times, and ships were 12.88 billion yuan, an increase of 50%. In the same period, exports of other labor-intensive products except masks all grew rapidly. Among them, luggage and bags grew by 33%, toys by 30%, and clothing and clothing accessories by 29.7%.
