Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region
A provincial administrative region of the People’s Republic of China and one of the five autonomous regions in China. Guangxi covers an area of 237,600 square kilometers and is located in South China, bordering Beibu Gulf in the south and across the sea from Hainan, and bordering Vietnam in the southwest.
The landforms of Guangxi are generally composed of six categories: mountain, hill, terrace, plain, stone mountain and water surface. The famous Guilin mountains and rivers in China and Yangshuo in the Li River are all in Guangxi.
With a population of 49.6 million in 2019, it ranks 11th nationwide. The GDP in 2019 is 2.123714 trillion yuan, ranking 19th nationwide. There are 14 cities in Guangxi, the capital of Nanning.
Minerals & Mining
Guangxi has many types of mineral resources and large reserves, especially non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and tin. It is one of the 10 key non-ferrous metal production areas in the country. The proven reserves of bauxite in Guangxi are 870 million tons, second only to Shanxi and Henan.
Pingguo Aluminum Mine is China’s largest aluminum industry base. The reserves and production of manganese ore rank first in the country, and the reserves of indium ore account for about 2/3 of the world’s proven indium reserves.
There are two international airports in Guangxi, and the construction of transportation infrastructure such as railways and highways is at a medium level in the country.
Agricultural Industries
Guangxi is China’s largest sugarcane, eucalyptus and plantation area, as well as the largest producer of pine resin, tung tree seeds and citrus, and the largest silkworm breeding area. Guangxi is rich in tropical fruits such as litchi, longan, mango, banana, citrus, and dragon fruit.
World’s Artificial Gem & Pearls
Wuzhou City, Guangxi is the world’s largest artificial gem processing base, producing more than 13.6 billion artificial gems annually, accounting for about 80% of the national output and 70% of the world’s output. It is known as “the world’s artificial gem capital“.
Hepu County, Guangxi is rich in pearls, and Hepu Pearls has a 40% market share in Europe.
