Jiangsu Province
Located on the eastern coast of mainland China, the capital city is Nanjing. Southeast is adjacent to Zhejiang and Shanghai. There are many lakes in Jiangsu Province, and the terrain is flat. The landform is composed of plains, waters, and hills. The land spans the two major river systems of the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River. Jiangsu Province is located in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and has 13 cities under its jurisdiction, all of which have entered the top 100 cities in China.
Jiangsu’s per capita GDP, comprehensive competitiveness, regional development and people’s livelihood index (DLI) are among the highest in China’s provinces, becoming one of the provinces with the highest comprehensive development level in China, and have entered the level of “middle-class” developed countries. Jiangsu Province’s comprehensive economic competitiveness ranks in the forefront of the country and is one of the most active provinces in China’s economy. The Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration formed by Shanghai, Zhejiang and Anhui has become one of the world’s six world-class urban agglomerations.
The total area of Jiangsu Province is 107,200 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, the permanent population of Jiangsu Province was 80.7 million, making it the largest population density province in China.
Industries
The regional GDP reached 99631.52 billion yuan. As a major manufacturing province and a national manufacturing base, Jiangsu ranks first in the country in manufacturing scale and has a complete range of industries.
Jiangsu has selected new power (new energy) equipment, construction machinery, Internet of Things, cutting-edge new materials, biomedicine and new medical devices, high-end textiles, integrated circuits, and offshore equipment on the basis of comprehensively sorting out the development status of 27 production industries.
With 13 industries including high-tech ships, high-end equipment, energy conservation and environmental protection, core information technology, automobiles and parts, and new displays, will vigorously develop industrial clusters.
In 2019, Jiangsu Province’s foreign trade imports and exports reached 4337.97 billion yuan, accounting for 13.8% of the country’s total imports and exports during the same period. Among them, exports were 2,720.86 billion yuan and imports were 16,17.11 billion yuan.
